The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in Taiwan stood at a “slightly pessimistic” 78.66 in September. That’s according to figures released Tuesday by the Research Center for Taiwan Economic Development at National Central University. The figure is down 0.90 points from last month and is the second-lowest figure of the year, behind 78.36 in June.
Of the six indices included in the survey, two were up. These were family economic conditions and willingness to buy durable goods. The other four indicators were down: domestic business condition, investment in stocks, inflation expectations and employment opportunities.
The greatest increase in confidence was family economic conditions over the next six months. The area that saw the biggest decrease in confidence was domestic inflation expectations over the same period.
