14 of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies have signed a joint letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon voicing their support for Taiwan’s participation in UN organizations.
The letter was delivered on Wednesday, two days after the close of this year’s UN General Assembly debates.
The letter called on the UN to recognize the importance of allowing Taiwan to participate in mechanisms including the World Health Assembly and the International Civil Aviation Organization. It also backed Taiwan’s inclusion in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Taiwan’s United Nations Task Force and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York thanked the nation’s diplomatic allies for their support.
