China’s Taiwan Affairs Office Director Zhang Zhijun will make a four-day visit to Taiwan beginning June 23. That’s the word from Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) on Friday. The MAC is the top China-policy maker in Taiwan.
MAC Minister Wang Yu-chi will meet with Zhang twice during his visit. MAC spokeswoman Wu Mei-hung spoke on the agenda for the meetings:
“The subjects of discussion will include views on the overall development of cross-strait relations, economic cooperation, regional economic integration and setting up offices on each other’s side," Wu said.”
Wu said that Zhang will visit New Taipei City, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Changhua during his visit. She said the Chinese official’s visit is a good sign of progress in cross-strait relations. She also said Zhang will be able to see and experience Taiwan’s democracy and diverse society and hear people’s views on cross-strait ties.
