Taipei is planning to issue Easy Cards for international tourists to make it easier to travel around the city. That’s the word from Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin on Monday.
The EasyCard Corporation and Taiwan’s Lion Travel Service have agreed to work together on the project, making the new cards available at the end of this year.
This is the first time that the city has teamed up with a travel agency to promote tourism.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin said he hopes the Easy Cards, which will be available at the travel agency’s 79 offices around the world, can help promote the city.
“At Lion Travel Service’s overseas offices, we will not only be able to market the Easy Cards, we will also introduce Taipei’s progress, hospitality, friendliness and convenience to tourists even before they arrive," said Hau. "The [Easy Cards] will give them a very good impression.”
Easy Cards for international tourists will feature things that are unique to Taiwan, such as the Formosan black bear, Taipei 101, sky lanterns, pineapple cakes and steamed dumplings.
