Taiwan’s 5,000th 7-Eleven convenience store has opened. This is a feat that has been achieved in just 35 years.
The store opened Friday in the southern city of Kaohsiung. Alex Lo is the head of President Chain Store Corporation, which operates the convenience store chain. He said some people have said the number of convenience stores has reached saturation point. But he said convenience stores in Taiwan are different from those in other countries, in that the Taiwanese ones offer much more services.
There are more than 10,000 convenience stores across Taiwan, the highest density in the world. 7-Eleven has the largest market share, followed by Taiwan FamilyMart, Hi-Life International, and OK Mart.
