Taiwan has lost to defending champion Iran to become the runner-up at this year’s FIBA Asia Basketball Championship. This is Taiwan’s best performance in the tournament.
During the final on Saturday, Taiwan was down 21-26 in the first quarter but pumped up the action to tie with Iran 42-42 at half time, only to lose momentum and fall behind 62-66 in the third quarter. It was unable to recover in the last quarter.
Center-forward Quincy Davis III topped the Taiwanese team’s scoring with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while guard Ray Chen registered 16 points and five assists.
