The identities of 33 of the 48 victims who died in the TransAsia Airways crash on Wednesday in the outlying Penghu Islands have been confirmed. The remaining 15 are still undergoing DNA testing.

The airplane crashed into a residential area while landing in Penghu on Wednesday, killing 48 and injuring 15. Of the 48 deceased, 23 were identified as Penghu residents, 21 were from Kaohsiung, 2 were from Taipei and 2 were French exchange students.

Early Friday morning, the remains of the victims were returned to Magong, Penghu. The remains will be sent back to Taiwan over the next couple of days.
