Taiwan’s economics ministry says it will provide legal assistance to solar product companies accused of dumping in the US market.
The ministry’s comments on Sunday came as a response to a preliminary decision by the US Department of Commerce to impose anti-dumping duties on Taiwanese solar products.
According to the US Department of Commerce on Saturday, solar products made by Chinese and Taiwanese companies were being sold at unfairly low prices in the US market.
Taiwanese companies face anti-dumping duties of between 27% and 44%, while Chinese ones were assigned duties of between 26% and 58%. Countervailing duties will also be imposed on Chinese solar products.
The decision is yet to be finalized towards the end of November. Economics Minister Chang Chia-juch said Taiwanese firms hope to find ways to overturn the decision. He also said his ministry will provide assistance.
