First lady returns from Japan trip
Back from Japan

First Lady Chow Mei-ching returned from her trip to Japan on Tuesday.

The first lady’s six-day trip to Japan was focused on cultural exchanges. She was the honorary director of the Vox Nativa Children’s Choir, an aboriginal choir that performed in Japan. She also participated in events sponsored by the Japan Choral Association.

On Monday, the first lady attended an opening ceremony for an exhibit at the Tokyo National Museum. Taiwan is lending treasures from the National Palace Museum to Japan for exhibit. It is the first time that Taiwan has lent the museum’s pieces to another Asian country.

Before returning to Taiwan on Tuesday, the first lady also went to the Yokohama Overseas Chinese School to read to the children there. Though the first lady did not give any public speeches during her trip, she was able to meet and shake hands with many politicians in Japan. Her trip marked a step forward for Japan-Taiwan relations.
