Taiwanese “bubble tea” takes UK by storm
Bubbleology

The quintessential Taiwanese drink – bubble tea – is taking the UK by storm.

Bubble tea is also known as pearl milk tea. It is a tea drink with tapioca balls drunk through a thick straw. The drink made its debut in Taiwan in the 1980s, and has developed hundreds of variations.

According to a BBC report on Tuesday, since an investment banker opened the UK’s first bubble tea shop in London in 2011, such shops have spread to different parts of the UK.

In other parts of Europe, bubble tea is also popular in Germany. Even McDonalds in Germany is serving the drink.
