The current daily quota of independent Chinese tourists allowed to come to Taiwan will be increased to over 4,000. That’s the word from the transportation ministry on Friday.
The ministry hopes to attract more Chinese nationals to Taiwan by increasing the quota for Chinese allowed to travel to Taiwan on their own rather than with tour groups to over 4,000 per day. The daily cap for Chinese tourists traveling in groups will stay at 5,000
The ministry will not only control the number of Chinese tourists during peak seasons but will also reevaluate itineraries. This will likely hurt the business of low-price tour operators. “Premium groups” with quality accommodations, restaurants and guides will receive priority for entering Taiwan.
