Taiwan holds Ebola-countering drill at airport
Ebola-countering drill

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is holding a drill at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the country’s main gateway. The drill simulates the interception of the arrival of travelers suspected of being infected with the Ebola virus.

The CDC set up an emergency response task force specifically to handle a possible Ebola outbreak. The task force was responsible for conducting the drill on Wednesday, which included checking for suspected cases and taking travelers to local hospitals.

As of Aug. 9, the West African countries of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria have reported 1,848 Ebola infection cases, including 1,013 deaths.

The CDC said it may send doctors to Nigeria to help fight the disease because there are over 100 Taiwanese businesspeople in the country.
