Taiwan is gaining worldwide fame again thanks to the science fiction action movie “Lucy”. That’s according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.
The report said that Taiwan has been luring directors from other countries to make films on the island. The fantasy epic “Life of Pi” directed by Taiwanese-American filmmaker Ang Lee had 80% of the scenes shot in central Taiwan. “Lucy” is only the second foreign movie to have put Taiwan on such a high pedestal.
The thriller shows the second tallest building in the world Taipei 101, the famous soup dumplings of Ding Tai Fung, and Taipei’s shopping malls. Scarlett Johansson who starred in the movie said that “Lucy” has lifted the pride of Taipei to yet another level. The article said Taipei is the real star in the movie to most of the audience.
“Lucy” is directed by French director Luc Besson who was just in Taipei to promote the movie.
