The Criminal Investigation Bureau announced Thursday that Chinese authorities allowed Taiwanese actor Kai Ko to contact family members the day following his arrest in Beijing.
The bureau said that the Chinese authorities were acting in accordance with cross-strait agreements on fighting crime.
Chinese police arrested Ko along with Hong Kong actor Jaycee Chan on August 14 on charges of drug possession. Taiwanese media only began reporting the arrest on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Taipei City Police Department has submitted the case to prosecutors on Tuesday. The case is set to be investigated through legal cooperation between Taiwan and Mainland China.
