AMP3: The Musical Crusaders of Asian Dignity & Rights
‘Amp3’ stands for Asian Musicians for People’s Peace & Progress. I pointedly ponder on the ‘People’s’. We had a ‘people’s republic of China.’ But when has it been the people’s state? The shrine has been brutalized poetically all along the watch tower. Into 2025, with a new statesman installed, I was also worried that Amp3, being taken under the guardian wings of the big brother’s endowment of the arts, they would face the disengagement flood flooring many Asian NGOs and institutions. Here is a sharing made and documented when I invited the Amp3 to RTI for interview a year ago, not long after the pandemic. They made a point to emphasis a missed chance for the people to learn to realize their potential to reclaim self-reliance by community effort, besides introducing the goal and history of the NGO. Grassroots people, for the people, empowering the people. Rural crusaders indeed.
