Collecting Patti
I’ve been collecting anything Patti since she put out her first record. I ended up translating her “People Have the Power” into Chinese and have it published in song form, decades ago before the Millennium. In the realm of admiration, there are things explainable and there are those null. The spiritual kinship and camaraderie with Patti is simply, magical and non-definable. There is this invisible halo in her voice and her stare that for those who’re begotten, will be. And otherwise not.
Not so long ago, Patti started to write on the Substack platform. Of course I become the follower to her almost daily scribbles. The chronicle of her travels and daily emotions were shared with such honesty and intimacy it is almost family-like. Here I repost a beautiful medley that I found, of two of her great songs for peace done in New York City’s Elisabeth street Garden, with children running around.
