Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) Director General Ho Shu-ping (何淑萍) said on Tuesday that China’s current usage of three flight routes close to the Taiwan Strait median line, including M503 is not significantly different than it was previously.
China’s civil aviation authority announced the alteration of the M503 flight route near the Taiwan Strait effective February 1, and the activation of routes W122 and W123 connecting Fuzhou and Xiamen to the east, which intersect M503.
Ho stated that the CAA continues to monitor the use of M503, especially in adverse weather conditions and other special circumstances. Ho adds that communication across the strait has generally been smooth and that Taiwan has expressed its firm stance to China and requested bilateral communication on the matter.
