Taiwan's first gold medalists from the Paris Olympics, badminton duo Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) and Lee Yang (李洋), made a triumphant return to Taiwan this morning. Fans gathered at the airport early, bearing gifts and eager to greet their champions. As the pair entered the airport hall wearing their gold medals, the crowd erupted in cheers and screams.

The athletes showed great appreciation for their supporters, graciously posing for photos and signing autographs for nearly everyone who approached. Their accessibility and warmth were evident as they spent an extra 20 minutes interacting with fans, signing, and taking pictures left and right.

Regarding their future plans, both athletes have clear directions. Wang intends to continue his badminton career, while Lee will teach classes at the National Taiwan Sport University and plans to run for the director of the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association (CTBA).

The Paris Olympics marked the final Olympic appearance for the “Lin Yang Pair” as a team. Fans can look forward to their last performance together at the Taipei Open in September, after which Lee plans to retire from competitive play. Wang, on the other hand, will begin cultivating a partnership with a new teammate, Chiu Hsiang-chieh (邱相榤), as they set their sights on the next Olympics.

As the duo moves on to new challenges, their love for badminton and the brilliance of their achievement continues to shine, inspiring the next generation of Taiwanese athletes in various fields.
