At this year's Paris Olympics, Taiwan’s table tennis player Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒), known as "the silent assassin," will compete in men's singles, men's team, and mixed doubles. He is determined to give his best effort and aims for a medal.
Lin is considered Taiwan's top table tennis player in recent years, having defeated world-class players like China's Ma Long (馬龍) and Fan Zhendong (樊振東), Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov, and Japan's Tomokazu Harimoto.
He made his Olympic debut at 19 during the Tokyo Olympics, winning a bronze medal in mixed doubles with Cheng I-ching (鄭怡靜) and finishing fourth in men's singles.
This year, Lin will compete in the Olympics for the second time, partnering with Chen Szu-yu (陳思羽) in mixed doubles. The pair qualified for the Paris Olympics with a fifth-place world ranking in mixed doubles, according to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Expectations are high for another podium finish.
Lin emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and adapting techniques to counter opponents' strategies. He noted that players study their competitors' styles after each match to refine their skills.
As he prepares for the Paris Olympics, Lin acknowledges the challenge of competing in France and aims to replicate his success from the Tokyo Games. According to the latest ITTF rankings, Lin is currently ranked eighth in the world in men's singles.
