As Taiwan’s Double Ten National Day approaches, the Foreign Ministry released its annual celebratory video on Tuesday. The video is titled “A democratic, peaceful, and prosperous new Taiwan” and showcases Taiwan’s role as a global prosperity driving force and a beacon of democracy and peace. The video is divided into four chapters: Democracy, Peace, Prosperity, and Taiwan greeting a new world.
Chapter one highlights Taiwan’s recent presidential elections, parliamentary proceedings, and high ranking in global democracy indices. It also touches on progressive achievements like the legalization of same-sex marriage, emphasizing Taiwan’s commitment to freedom and diversity.
The second chapter underscores Taiwan’s strategic importance in the ‘First Island Chain’ which refers to the string of Western Pacific islands off the coastline of East Asia and the extensive ocean between them. The video depicts Taiwan’s efforts to strengthen international friendships, enhance national defense, and contribute to global humanitarian aid.
The Prosperity chapter showcases Taiwan’s innovative capabilities in high-tech industries such as semiconductors, AI, and aerospace, as well as its traditional manufacturing strengths.
The final chapter titled “Taiwan greeting a new world, the new world greeting a new Taiwan” presents Taiwan’s multicultural society, religious freedom, and blend of tradition and modernity and also features clips of Taiwan’s Olympic heroes.
Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健) stated that the video aligns with President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) inaugural vision for the nation’s future. The five-minute video will be available in 13 languages across various official platforms.
